I had the classic Liberal Arts education, at Newberry College, in Newberry, South Carolina.  I earned a B.A., with a double major in English and Sociology.  I also took a number of classes in History, Religion, and Philosophy.

As I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in English (both from The University of South Carolina), I taught a variety of classes, and I have continued to do so.  Click on the CV link above and look in the Teaching Experience section, if you want the complete details.

In January of 2002, I started teaching English and Creative Writing at The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale.  In July of 2007, I was promoted to Assistant Chair of General Education (like being the chair of a complete Liberal Arts department, which makes me happy).  I teach one class a quarter, in addition to my administrative duties.

In December of 2009, my department chair was promoted to the open Associate Dean position, and I was appointed Interim Department Chair of General Education.  In February 2010, I was promoted to Chair of General Education.
